The mastery of Afro Celotto flows effortlessly out of each piece. This twisted bottle shape is unusual generally and is a form that Afro seldom uses. Note the battuto details in the horizontal orange “swoosh” and that flows into yellow “eye” of the front of the piece.
This whimsical bottle features a distinct axis through the yellow eye in the frame of false reticello straight to the bright, battuto “sun” on the rear. The palette is drawn from afternoon sun shining brightly on the colorful buildings of Burano, Afro’s birthplace near Murano. The transparent window to the left offsets the reticello frame wrapping down around and across the right side. Afro’s typically careful placement of a bubble in each reticello cell adds even more subtle dimension and complexity to this delightful bottle.
The view is amazing from any angle!
