Brilliant purple and deep indigo glass coalesce into clouds of white murrini – with glints of real silver in this fine art glass sculpture! There is a sense of whimsy in Tullman’s glass artwork that belies the complexity and control required.
More Information
Ben started this hot blown glass sculpture with a bubble of purple glass. He cut the needed “murrini” from white and clear “cane” days before. Then he heated the murrini until red hot and picked them up on a bubble of clear glass.
Finally, the bubble was stretched and formed into this marvelous shape and silver foil was added to the inside of along the way.
Ben Tullman frequently uses striking colors and creative patterns in his fine art glass sculptures. Furthermore, he has mastered the creative and modern use of murrini and cane. Often, Tullman produces large scale glass sculptures made with exquisite patterns. However, Tullman’s glass artwork has a sense of whimsy that belies the complexity and control required.
Ben was featured at SOFA Chicago 2017.
