Clearly Plush!
Turkish Rugs and Murano Glass

Saturday, February 2nd from 1;00pm – 8:00pm

Selcuk, Turkey, 2013…Ali Baba casually pointed to the rug shop next to his restaurant, mentioned that it was his place and continued chatting with us. I gave a chance to the only guy in Turkey who had not tried to sell me a rug!

Well, his rugs were amazing, the selection was incredible, the prices were fair and he remained helpful since I knew little and was very low pressure. My budget was limited and I left with small rug sporting a pattern I had never seen before called a “Noah’s Ark”.

Ali Baba had told us he loved the US, visited frequently and would contact me. Over a year later, he came to visit and I had wonderful rug party!  With a lot of hardwood floor to cover I bought several really beautiful rugs at great prices. We all had fun and it was nice to get input from friends and neighbors about what rugs they liked. Some of them are in the photo collage on the invite.

We are hosting Ali Baba again next month, on Saturday February 2nd and we hope you will join us. You will enjoy him and the rugs, learn as much about Turkey and rugs as you want to and also have a chance to check out a very cool art glass collection – all in a beautiful rural area that is closer than you think!

Tall or Small?

Friday, July 13,  2pm – 7pm

Sunday, July 15,  11am – 4pm

Friday, July 20,  2pm – 7pm
Saturday, July 21,  11am – 4pm
Sunday, July 21,  11am – 4pm

It can be hard to tell from a photo what the true size of an art glass sculpture is. Some of our largest pieces are often assumed to be just inches high until you see them live – and some small sculptures can look quite large and majestic in a photo.

We’ve selected a variety of both quite “Tall” and quite “Small” sculptures that might deceive the eye in a photo and must be seen in person to appreciate! Works by Adriano Dalla Valentina, Afro Celotto, Alexis Silk, Ben Tullman, Cristiano Toso, Mariano Moro, Pete Patterson, Paull Rodrigue and more…

Avventurine is a type of glass that has sparkles with metal crystals that are literally grown within it. Developed on the island Murano hundreds of years ago its name comes from the fact that it was a chancy technique – an adventure…

Calcedonia is an form of opaque colored glass developed on Murano in the 19th century to imitate agate, onyx and other decorative stone. The secret had been lost but modern glass artists have rediscovered it and are using this versatile glass in many creative ways.

Of course, this is also a great opportunity to check out our newest outdoor garden glass!
